He is currently starring in Ridley Scott's war movie Black Hawk Down and has also recently starred with Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale in Jerry Bruckheimer’s epic production of Pearl Harbor and in the dark drama O, which is a modern day retelling of “Othello,” opposite Julia Stiles and Mekhi Phifer. He will next be seen starring in the comedy 40 Days, 40 Nights.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Hartnett first came to audiences’ attention as Michael “Fitz” Fitzgerald in the TV series Cracker. He soon began ascending the ranks of young talent in such films as Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, The Faculty, Here on Earth, Town and Country and Blow Dry, as well as Sofia Coppola’s acclaimed independent film The Virgin Suicides.
