Kilpatrick is an ideal base from which to explore Arran's many charms. Renowned for it's tranquil atmosphere, it is stepped in history. The King's Cave, a little beyond the village of neighbouring Blackwaterfoot, is one of the many Scottish caverns said to have been inhabited by Robert Bruce before he gained the throne. To the south, the ruined Bronze Age cairn of Kilpatrick Dun and the standing stones in the spectacular landscape of Machrie Moor, are a powerful reminder of 3000 years of Arran life.

A perfect opportunity to enjoy an active holiday with tennis courts, an all weather bowling green, pony trekking, quad biking, swimming and trout fishing all close to the cottage or to take time to discover a wide variety of bird, animal and plant life. Alternatively, visit the majestic Brodick Castle and soak up the peace in the pleasantly sculptured gardens.

The unique 12 hole Shiskine Golf Course at Blackwaterfoot is constantly rated among Britain's favourites. The unrivalled views across to Kintyre can be enjoyed as you stand on the tee appropriately named "Paradise" and let all your cares evapourate.
