Both shows are produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in collaboration with Telepictures Productions and are distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. Insiders report that the decision to end these shows stems from the evolving landscape of daytime syndication, with local TV stations reducing their syndication budgets and the daytime syndication advertising market facing challenges. First-run syndication has become a more challenging terrain, especially as station groups are expanding their local news broadcasts as a cost-saving measure.

“Judge Mathis” also boasts the title of the second-longest-running court show with the same host, only surpassed by “Judge Judy,” which ran for 25 seasons. Throughout the show’s history, Judge Mathis presided over a remarkable 13,000 cases.
Regarding “The People’s Court,” the show earned four Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program in 2014, 2015, 2020, and 2021.

When considering all its iterations, “The People’s Court” stands as the longest-running traditional court show and the second-longest-running court show overall, with a total of 39 seasons as of the 2022-23 television year (trailing “Divorce Court” by just one season). Judge Marilyn Milian has served as the host of “The People’s Court” since 2001, making her the show’s longest-reigning host at 22 years. She also holds the distinction of being the first Latina judge to host a nationally syndicated television court show.

Original “The People’s Court” participant Doug Llewelyn also returned to interview litigants after a decision has been rendered.
