In the movie “The Mummy,” Fraser’s character finds himself in a perilous situation where he is hanged with a rope. Fraser described the stunt, saying, “I was standing on my toes like this with the rope, and you only got so far to go.” However, during one take, the director, Stephen Sommers, felt that Fraser’s portrayal of choking did not look convincing enough.

To capture a more realistic scene, the production team decided to film one more take. Fraser recounted the moment, saying, “The camera swooped around, and I went up on my toes, and the guy holding the rope above me, he pulled it up a little higher, and I was stuck on my toes and had nowhere to go but down.” As a result, Fraser found himself in a life-threatening situation.
Fraser continued his description of the incident, stating, “And then the next thing I knew, my elbow was in my ear, the world was sideways, and there was gravel in my teeth.” It was a terrifying moment as he was inadvertently choked during the stunt.
Thankfully, the stunt coordinator on set acted swiftly to ensure Fraser’s safety. After rushing to the scene, he woke Fraser up from the dangerous situation. Upon regaining consciousness, Fraser was met with an unusual congratulatory message from the coordinator, who informed him, “Congratulations, you’re in the club — the same thing happened to Mel Gibson on ‘Braveheart.'”
