James Wan, the Founder and CEO of Atomic Monster, enthusiastically chimed in, stating, “In ‘Dead by Daylight,’ the team at Behaviour Interactive has crafted a heartfelt homage to the horror genre, constructing a richly atmospheric world inhabited by spine-chilling antagonists – making it the perfect material for a spine-tingling cinematic adaptation. Over at Atomic Monster, we’re avid fans of the game and couldn’t be more excited to partner with Blumhouse to bring this fear-inducing and visceral realm to the grandeur of the silver screen.”
Both companies have embarked on the quest to find a director and screenwriter for the project. Jason Blum, the founder and CEO of Blumhouse, stressed the importance of selecting individuals who share a deep appreciation and love for the world of “Dead by Daylight,” ensuring that the film truly captures the essence of the game. Blum expressed confidence that their collaborators at Behaviour and Atomic Monster would help deliver the ultimate rendition of this gaming experience.
James Wan, known for directing “The Conjuring” and “Insidious,” and Jason Blum, acclaimed for producing “Get Out” and “The Purge,” are perfectly aligned with the spirit of “Dead by Daylight.” The game boasts an expansive universe populated by original, gruesome killers like The Nurse, The Wraith, The Hag, and others, as well as iconic movie villains and characters licensed from classics such as “Halloween,” “Hellraiser,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” and more. One player assumes the role of the killer, while others strive to survive.

Wan, Blum, and Stephen Mulrooney are all onboard as producers for the film. The executive producers include Remi Racine from Behaviour Interactive, Michael Clear and Judson Scott from Atomic Monster, Ryan Turek from Blumhouse, and Russell Binder from Striker Entertainment.
Blumhouse, renowned for producing hits like “Paranormal Activity” and “The Black Phone,” is set to join forces with James Wan’s Atomic Monster, known for films such as “Malignant” and “Annabelle.” This merger, which was initially revealed last year, is expected to be finalized during the upcoming summer.
In a recent development, Blumhouse unveiled the creation of Blumhouse Games, a subsidiary dedicated to developing and publishing video games with “indie budget” production values, targeting budgets below $10 million.
