The narrative follows 15-year-old Bella (Lola Tung), who spends each summer at a beach house with her mother, older brother Steven, and her mother’s best friend’s family—the Fishers. Throughout the summers, Belly has harbored a crush on Conrad (Christopher Briney), the eldest Fisher son, though he has always regarded her as a little sister. The first season, mirroring the initial book of the trilogy, unfolds during the summer of Belly’s 16th birthday, when Conrad starts reciprocating her deepening feelings. However, a complex love triangle emerges when Conrad’s brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) also shows interest in Bella.
The second season will immerse viewers in the unfolding drama. The official trailer showcases a pivotal moment where Jeremiah directly addresses Bella about her emotions. In the new footage, he tells a distressed Bella, “Belly, you were my best friend, we hooked up, and then you hooked up with my brother. And everybody asked me to act like I was fine, and I wasn’t.”
Additionally, the trailer offers a sneak peek at “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” from the upcoming “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).” Notably, this isn’t the first time Taylor Swift’s music has been incorporated into “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series. In the debut season, Swift’s songs “Cruel Summer,” “False God,” and “This Love” were featured, leading to a resurgence on the Billboard Top 40 three years after their initial release. The debut season also achieved the remarkable feat of reaching No. 1 on Amazon Prime after its weekend premiere.
The latest season has prompted the release of various apparel and accessory collections inspired by the show’s “East Coast summer vacation” style.
