Judy Farrell, renowned for her portrayal of Nurse Able in “MAS*H,” passed away on Sunday at the age of 84.

Her fellow “MAS*H” cast member Loretta Swit shared with Entertainment Weekly, “Judy was a most beautiful woman — inside and out. We grew up together. She was family. This has been a painful loss, but we will always have the beauty of her memory. Rest in peace, Nurse Able.”

TMZ reported that Farrell had suffered a stroke eight days before her demise.
Farrell appeared in eight episodes of “MASH,” the iconic television series centered around the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War. The show ran from 1972 to 1983, featuring her as Nurse Able alongside Alan Alda as Captain Benjamin “Hawkeye” Pierce. In addition to her role in “MASH,” Farrell had parts in popular TV series such as “Fame” and “Quincy M.E.” and made guest appearances on “Get Smart” and “The Partridge Family.”
In addition to her acting career, Judy Farrell also made her mark as a TV writer, contributing to projects such as “Port Charles,” “Fame,” and “The Kid from Nowhere.”

Born in Quapaw, Okla., on March 1, 1938, Farrell entered the entertainment industry as an actress in 1969 with appearances on two episodes of “Judd for the Defense.” Her breakthrough came in 1976 when she took on the role of Nurse Able in “MAS*H,” a character she portrayed over the following years.
She was previously married to her “MAS*H” co-star, Mike Farrell, who played Captain B.J. Hunnicutt, from 1963 to 1983, and they have two children together, Michael and Erin Farrell. Following her divorce from Mike, Farrell married Joe Bratcher in 1985.
Judy Farrell is survived by her husband, Joe Bratcher, and her two children.
