Adapted from Karin Slaughter’s novels of the same title, the show revolves around Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). Abandoned at birth and navigating Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system, Trent is on a mission to ensure no one faces the abandonment he experienced. With the highest clearance rate in the GBI, he brings a unique perspective to his work. The series features Rodríguez as Will Trent, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, and Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner.
In the upcoming episode airing on Tuesday night, the storyline follows Will Trent as he assumes the undercover identity of Bill Black, a character with a troubled past. His mission involves dismantling a drug organization and locating a missing DEA agent. The Season 1 finale is set to air on Tuesday, May 2.
“We are immensely grateful to our ABC and Hulu audiences for embarking on this exhilarating journey with ‘Will Trent.’ Our goal was to faithfully translate the gritty and thrilling world that Karin Slaughter envisioned in her bestselling book series onto the television screen,” remarked Ramón Rodríguez, who serves as both producer and star of the series. “Liz Heldens, Dan Thomsen, and the creative team have crafted intricate and nuanced characters that resonate on a deeply human level — and having our little star, Betty, on the call sheet certainly adds to the excitement. We’re thrilled for the chance to delve further into these narratives with the upcoming second season.”
After 35 days of combined viewership on linear and digital platforms, “Will Trent” emerged as ABC’s leading new drama this season, attracting 9.9 million total viewers and boasting a 1.65 rating among Adults 18-49.
