Season 2 will comprise eight episodes, and the official description provides a glimpse into what viewers can expect: “The new season commences on Easter morning in 1883, with the revelation that Bertha Russell’s (Carrie Coon) attempt to secure a box at the Academy of Music has been denied. Over the course of the season’s eight episodes, audiences will witness Bertha’s challenges against Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy) and the established social order as she strives not only to establish herself in high society but potentially ascend to a prominent position within it. Meanwhile, George Russell (Morgan Spector) faces his own struggles with a growing union at his steel plant in Pittsburgh. In the Brook House, Marian (Louisa Jacobson) continues her journey toward finding her place in the world, clandestinely teaching at a girls’ school, while Ada (Cynthia Nixon) embarks on a new romantic relationship, surprising everyone. Agnes (Christine Baranski) disapproves of it all. In Brooklyn, the Scott family begins to recover from a shocking revelation, and Peggy (Denée Benton) channels her activist spirit through her collaboration with T. Thomas Fortune (Sullivan Jones) at the NY Globe.”
