“New Girl,” featuring Zooey Deschanel in a leading role, initially made its debut on Netflix in the U.S. during the summer of 2013. The show boasts an ensemble cast that includes Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Hannah Simone. Originally airing on Fox from 2011 to 2018, the series has maintained its popularity among viewers over the years.

The Los Angeles-based comedy revolves around five millennial friends who inadvertently create a charmingly dysfunctional—or oddly functional—family dynamic, as described by the show’s premise.

In the opening of “New Girl,” Jess Day (played by Deschanel) finds herself in need of a new place to live following a difficult breakup. Winston (brought to life by Morris) is an intensely competitive former athlete at a crossroads in his life. Completing the group is Jess’s childhood best friend, Cece (depicted by Simone), a model with a talent for delivering deadpan humor.
