FX has just made an exciting announcement! The critically acclaimed drama series Snowfall is gearing up for its grand finale. The sixth and final season is set to premiere on FX, kicking off on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Fans won’t have to wait too long to catch it, as it will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu and on Disney+ under the Star banner for international viewers. The season will start with a bang, offering a two-episode premiere before unveiling new episodes weekly.
Since its debut in 2017, Snowfall has been captivating audiences with its gritty portrayal of 1980s Los Angeles amidst the crack-cocaine epidemic, driven in part by a covert CIA operation. In its sixth season, we can expect a fierce “civil war” that threatens to tear the Saint family apart. Frank Saint (played by Damson Idris), the drug kingpin at the center of the storm, finds himself in an increasingly perilous situation, with multiple government agencies closing in on him, including the DEA, CIA, and even the KGB. With everything he’s built hanging by a thread, the series poses a gripping question: “When everyone has their backs against the wall, who will they become in order to survive?”
The renewal for Snowfall’s sixth and final season came in April 2022, right in the midst of the fifth season’s airing. The show has earned widespread acclaim from both viewers and critics for its riveting storyline and multifaceted characters. The upcoming season will consist of 10 episodes, in line with its predecessors. FX’s President of Original Programming, Nick Grad, expressed his excitement about giving the creative team the opportunity to conclude their story, saying it will showcase the brilliance of everyone involved, from the outstanding cast led by Damson Idris to the talented writers, directors, artists, and crew.
The Cast and Crew Behind Snowfall
The visionary director John Singleton, celebrated for his iconic film ‘Boyz N the Hood,’ played a pivotal role in creating this series alongside Eric Amadio and Dave Andron. In this sixth and ultimate season, it’s October 1986, and the Saint family is on the brink of a devastating civil war. Franklin, portrayed by the remarkable Damson Idris, finds himself in dire straits, compelled to resort to robbing his own Aunt Louie and Uncle Jerome, brought to life by Angela Lewis and Amin Joseph, respectively, after being financially ruined by the former CIA officer Teddy McDonald, played by Carter Hudson. As the power dynamics shift, Louie takes the reins of Teddy’s sole buyer, undercutting her own nephew and building her own empire in the process. Franklin is now confronted with the heart-wrenching prospect of losing everything he holds dear. Surviving it all will require out-maneuvering not only the KGB, DEA, and CIA but also navigating the treacherous waters of the fully militarized, deeply corrupt LAPD’s C.R.A.S.H units. When adversity pushes everyone to their limits, the question looms large: Who will they become in order to survive?
