Aubrey Plaza graced the stage of “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on a Monday night to delve into the riveting Season 2 finale of Mike White’s esteemed HBO series. In this climactic episode, Harper confesses to Ethan that she and Cameron (played by Theo James) shared a passionate kiss. However, her husband remains unconvinced of her complete honesty, spiraling into the depths of jealousy. Yet, following a tumultuous brawl with his former college roommate and a mysterious escapade to an island with Cameron’s wife, Daphne (portrayed by Meghann Fahy), Ethan returns with an unexpected attraction to Harper. This sparks an intimate encounter, marking their first physical connection since embarking on their Italian vacation.

While the series intentionally cloaks the nature of the liaison between Harper and Cameron in ambiguity, Plaza slyly teased, “What happened is… we did some stuff. And I hated every minute of it. It was disgusting. And there was no penetration! I don’t know.”
Meyers, expressing his belief in Harper’s assertion that their interaction was confined to kissing, ventured, “maybe each of you grabbed the other one’s butt.” To this, Plaza retorted with a wry smile, “Just a kiss? … I think I grabbed a little more than that.”
In a conversation with Variety following the electrifying finale, Sharpe shared his perspective on the enigmatic encounter, stating, “As an actor, I didn’t need to know the truth, because Ethan doesn’t know the truth. In that scene, where he’s pushing Harper to know exactly what happened, he has, rightly or wrongly, decided that that’s what he needs to do for them to move on and to move past this.”

Plaza added a touch of humor, revealing that she has only watched the first two episodes of Season 2, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to binge-watch the remainder of the series in a single marathon session accompanied by a “magnum bottle of wine.”
When asked if there’s a character she would have preferred to see meet their end instead of Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid, Plaza playfully remarked, “I mean… Cameron.”
While the season’s conclusion holds a cautiously optimistic outlook for the future of Harper and Ethan’s relationship, Plaza couldn’t help but share her own fanciful notion, saying, “I was really gunning for doing some takes where maybe we weren’t so happy. Maybe they’ll be okay. But I have a kind of fantasy that Harper divorces him and takes all his money.”
