More Blood, More Honey
Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the first film, Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey, made its gory debut in theaters. This twisted take on the beloved Winnie The Pooh characters and the Hundred Acre Wood didn’t hold back, turning our favorite childhood friends into ruthless killers. Surprisingly, this low-budget film, made for around $100,000, raked in over $5 million at the box office. The success of this macabre adaptation quickly led to the creation of its sequel, Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, promising even more bloodshed.
The sequel, currently in production in the UK, boasts a bigger budget and an impressive cast. BAFTA-nominated actor Simon Callow has joined the project, along with Tallulah Evans, and Scott Chambers will take on the role of Christopher Robin. According to the film’s writer and director, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the sequel will feature new creature designs, a fresh cast, and a higher body count. Frake-Waterfield also teased that this time, Pooh and the gang will be leaving the familiar 100 Acre Wood behind and taking their gruesome fight to the quiet community of Ashdown.
Get ready for a whole new level of dark and gritty in the world of everyone’s favorite homicidal and honey-loving bear. Fresh images released today offer a glimpse into the explosive vision of Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. In one striking image, Piglet, who’s back from the first film, is seen crouching behind a menacing creature that appears to be a nightmarish version of Owl. Another photo provides a close-up of Scott Chambers as Christopher Robin, his tear-filled eyes hinting at the anguish of confronting his childhood friends turned monsters.
The screenplay for this gruesome sequel was crafted by Matt Leslie and is based on a story co-written with the film’s director, Rhys Frake-Waterfield. Adding to the chilling mix is creature and gore designer Shaune Harrison, known for his work on films like World War Z and Harry Potter. With Harrison on board, we can expect even more twisted and intense versions of our beloved woodland creatures.
