Aerosmith fans around the world were left disappointed as the iconic rock band announced the postponement of their highly anticipated 2023 tour due to an unexpected and serious health issue affecting lead singer Steven Tyler. Initially thought to be a minor vocal cord injury, it has now been revealed that Tyler suffered a fractured larynx, leading to bleeding vocal cords, requiring ongoing medical care.

In a statement released on social media, the band addressed the situation, stating, “Steven Tyler’s doctor has confirmed that he fractured his larynx, which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

The injury first came to light after Tyler’s initial vocal cord troubles resulted in the rescheduling of six tour dates to 2024. These rescheduled performances were set to take place from January to the end of February, with stops in major cities including Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland. The band had initially hoped to return to the stage by October 11, 2023, but this date is no longer feasible due to the severity of Tyler’s condition.
The band expressed their commitment to their fans, promising to announce new tour dates as soon as more information becomes available. They assured ticket holders that all previously purchased tickets would be honored at the rescheduled concerts, and refunds would also be available for those unable to attend the yet-to-be-announced new dates.
Steven Tyler also issued a personal statement, expressing his disappointment and love for the fans, saying, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can! – Love, Steven.”
In a parallel announcement, it was revealed that rock legend Bruce Springsteen faced health challenges of his own. Springsteen had to postpone all his September shows due to struggles with peptic ulcer disease. According to representatives, Springsteen is undergoing treatment and recovery but chose to postpone all tour dates “out of an abundance of caution.”
At present, the only concerts on Springsteen’s schedule are a series of makeup shows in Philadelphia slated for August of the following year. Aerosmith fans, on the other hand, must wait for further updates on the band’s return to the stage.
The health and well-being of these iconic rock musicians are of paramount importance to their fans, who are eagerly awaiting their return to live performances. Updates on their conditions and rescheduled tour dates are eagerly anticipated by music enthusiasts worldwide.
