Angelica Ross, the talented actress renowned for her roles in “Pose” and her appearances in two seasons of “American Horror Story,” has come forward with a disheartening revelation. She claims that Ryan Murphy, the celebrated producer behind these acclaimed series, initiated contact with her to discuss the possibility of creating a season of “American Horror Story” featuring an all-Black cast. However, as their conversations progressed, communication between the two abruptly ceased, leading to missed opportunities for the actress.

Recently, Ross shared a glimpse into their correspondence by posting a screenshot of an email dating back to July 2020, featuring Ryan Murphy’s name. In this email, Murphy referenced Angelica Ross’s idea for a horror season centered on Black women and stated, “Remember your idea about a Horror season starring Black women? Well, I’m doing it. Not sure of the story yet, but we will start a writers’ room in the fall.” He also sought Ross’s input on the cast, suggesting the inclusion of Keke Palmer.

However, a separate TikTok video revealed the unfortunate turn of events. Angelica Ross disclosed that Murphy had seemingly ghosted her after she sent a follow-up email in February of the same year. In the screenshot of this email, Ross expressed her eagerness to be considered for producing duties. Frustrated by the silence on Murphy’s end, she explained, “After not hearing back, after sending flowers and receiving no response, I sent one last email in Feb 2022 (it took about a year to film season 10 due to COVID) while still being contractually bound to the show.”

After not hearing back. After sending flowers and no response I sent one last email in Feb 2022 (it took about a year to film season 10 due to COVID) while still contractually in first position with the show. Adding to her dismay, Ross shared that she has not received any communication from Ryan Murphy since that point and revealed that she missed a potential opportunity with Marvel as a direct consequence of this silence. In her words, “It’s not JUST that the idea changed. Things change all the time. It’s that I called business affairs for MONTHS trying to get clarity if they were picking up my contract option or if I was okay to tell Marvel that I was available for whatever they were calling me for. I had been auditioning for THREE YEARS for Marvel. It’s that I was HELD in first position the whole time.”
As of the time of reporting, representatives for both Ryan Murphy and FX have not responded to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment on this matter.
Angelica Ross, recognized for her diverse roles in “American Horror Story” as Nurse Rita and The Chemist during seasons 9 and 10, is set to make a return as the anthology series unveils its twelfth season, titled “Delicate,” on September 20. The new season features notable figures like Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts, and it is divided into two parts. This fresh installment draws its inspiration from Danielle Valentine’s intricate thriller, “Delicate Condition.”
