Feel Sales Nabs World Sales Rights to U.S.-Spanish Indie Social Drama ‘Third Week,’ ‘About Second Chances and Their Challenges’ (EXCLUSIVE)

September 12, 2023 September 12, 2023 admin

Madrid-based agency Feel Sales has picked up worldwide sales rights to indie social drama film “Third Week,” by long term New York-based Catalan writer-director Jordi Torrent (“The Redemption of the Fish”).

A U.S.-Spain co-production, the film is produced by Torrent, alongside Randy Simon, Maria Àngels Amorós and Toni Espinosa, for New York’s companies Duende Pictures and RFS Wolf Entertainment and Barcelona’s Toned Media.

“Third Week” forms part of the Spanish Screenings On Tour 2023 international showcase’s Next From Spain – Comin’ Up sidebar, a preview of titles from Spain scheduled for release next hosted by the upcoming 9th edition of Rome’s Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo (MIA) in Rome.

Shot on Staten Island, which is described in the film as a socially and aesthetically marginalized neighborhood of NYC, it follows the struggle of Alvin, a young man just out from prison, after serving a two years sentence, looking to find himself again.

Alvin’s tense relationship with his absent and troubled mother weighs on him and forces him to reconnect with the world that brought him to prison and that he has desperately been trying to avoid in order to remake his life.

Thesp Aaron Poon, known for “Sofa King” and “My Sister’s Wedding,” stars as Alvin. Further main characters in the film are played by Lucinda Carr (“Happy Ending,” “Zero Issue”), Richard Vetere (“The Great American Heist”), Aiysha Flowers (“Foster Sin”), Edu Díaz, Ron Barba (“Bobby Mortal”) and Chang Liu.

“I wanted to make a film about second chances and the challenges they bring. These challenges appear at different stages in the story and are interwoven with its multiple narratives,” Torrent explained.

The film was lensed in black and white with a RED camera with a monochrome sensor by veteran DoP James Callanan (“The Americans,” ‘The GetDown,” “Flight of the Conchords”).

The aim of the Spanish Screenings On Tour 2023 is to strengthen and open up new opportunities for Spain’s audiovisual industry abroad, organizing activations to stimulate the sale and promotion of the country’s audiovisual sector in strategic territories. Its second edition takes place Oct. 9-13 at Rome’s MIA.

The initiative, part of the Spanish Screenings XXL platform, is backed by Spain’s ICAA film institute, ICEX Spain Trade & Investment, the San Sebastián Festival and the Málaga Festival.
