The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) are famous for their drama, whether real, staged, or merely imagined. The show’s first hour this Tuesday night was no exception. Amid the crowded backstage area, Megan was seen getting ready while NSYNC members walked by. Timberlake smiled, leaned over to say something to her. Megan responded by pointing decisively and then turned away, clearly showing signs of anger.
Joey Fatone from NSYNC seemed to agree with some of the words.
It certainly looked like an argument, but according to a behind-the-scenes source who witnessed the exchange, “there was no argument.”
The source explained: “He said, ‘Nice to meet you,’ and she said, ‘No, no, this doesn’t count, this doesn’t count. We have to meet properly.’ It’s very cute.”
While no official statement has been made about a possible NSYNC reunion, the group has been dropping hints for weeks. Taylor Swift, the big winner at the VMAs, added to the speculation when she accepted the group’s first award of the evening, which was for best pop video.
Swift couldn’t help but say excitedly: “Are you guys planning on doing something? I need to know what it is!”
The suggestions couldn’t be clearer. Reports are circulating on the internet that NSYNC has recorded a new song penned by Justin Timberlake for the upcoming third installment of the DreamWorks animated series, “Trolls Band Together”. Judging from the trailers, the film has a boy band reunion plot for Timberlake’s character Branch. It is expected that the remaining four members of the group—JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick—will also join Timberlake in the film.
Stay tuned for more developments on this intriguing VMAs backstage moment and a potential NSYNC reunion.
