Prepare for a powerful dose of biceps and brotherly love this holiday season as “The Iron Claw,” a gripping sports drama featuring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White, has received the green light to conduct promotional activities through the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
This exciting development means that the stars of “The Iron Claw” are now officially authorized to promote the film worldwide before its highly anticipated wide release this December.
The film explores the riveting yet tragic story of the Von Erichs, an American pro wrestling family. Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White take on the roles of Kevin and Kerry Von Erich, respectively, two brothers who achieved legendary status in the WWE Hall of Fame for their extraordinary wrestling skills during the ’80s and ’90s. The film is written and directed by Sean Durkin, known for his work on “Martha Marcy May Marlene.” It delves into a tale of remarkable athleticism intertwined with personal tragedies, all set within the confines of a family plagued by what was famously known as “the Von Erich curse.”
Joining Efron and White in the cast are Harris Dickinson, Stanley Simons, Holt McCallany, Maura Tierney, and Lily James. “The Iron Claw” is set to provide an intriguing alternative when it hits theaters on December 22, coinciding with the release of Universal and Illumination’s animated comedy, “Migration.” Following closely behind are major blockbuster releases, including “Aquaman 2” and the highly anticipated WB musical film, “The Color Purple.”
The film boasts a talented production team, including Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Angus Lamont from House Productions, Sean Durkin, and A24. The esteemed executive producers are Derrin Schlesinger, Harrison Huffman, Len Blavatnik, Danny Cohen, and Eva Yates.
“The Iron Claw” was developed by House Productions with the support of Access Entertainment and BBC Film, both of which provided co-financing. A24 is also a key producer and financier of the project.
Get ready for a heart-pounding journey into the world of professional wrestling and family dynamics when “The Iron Claw” graces the big screen this December, bringing a compelling mix of athleticism and drama to audiences worldwide.
