According to a joint statement, negotiations will resume on Friday, October 6, with both parties working internally over the weekend and then resuming talks on Monday, October 9. While the recent meeting did not reveal specifics about the potential deal framework or any existing roadblocks, the industry eagerly awaits the outcome of these negotiations.
Hollywood remains on edge as the negotiations unfold. Following the Writers Guild of America’s successful deal reached in late September, the industry has cautiously prepared to restart production and revive the film awards season. This includes addressing the backlog of halted productions and ensuring the participation of top talent.

SAG-AFTRA is aiming for a favorable new three-year contract from the producers. Key aspects of the deal include enhanced protection for actors regarding advancing AI technology and an unprecedented share of streaming revenue profits. These demands align with the WGA’s successful negotiations.
Leading the discussions for SAG-AFTRA are executive vice president Duncan Crabtree Ireland and union president Fran Drescher. Representing the producers is AMPTP president Carol Lombardini. High-ranking media CEOs, such as NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley, Disney’s Bob Iger, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav, are also actively participating in the negotiations, similar to the WGA talks.
